VTP is used centralized VLAN management.
VTP Modes
Server Mode-
In this mode we can create, modify and delete
database & server advertised this database to other switches.
Client Mode-
In this mode client receive database from server
mode & also forward update to other switches, its cannot create or delete
the VLAN
.
Transparent Mode-
In this mode its forward only VTP summary advertised
through trunk.
Its make own database and that database doesn’t

VTP domain name- Its should be same domain name for
all switches.
VTP Pruning- VTP pruning helps improves network
performance and network bandwidth by decreasing unnecessary flooded traffic.
VTP pruning allows a switch to learn which VLANs are
active on its neighbors, By default VTP pruning is disabled.
VTP password- Its should be same password in every
switches.
excellent notes
